Alcohol Iso Prophyl is a non- polar compound. It is colorless liquid and flammable chemical compound with a sharp musty odor like rubbing alcohol having molecular formula CH3CHOHCH3. Flash point of 53°F. Vapors are heavier than air and mildly irritating to the eyes, nose, and throat. Density approximately 6.5 lb. / gal. It is an isomer of propyl alcohol with antibacterial properties. Isopropanol is used in soaps and lotions as an antiseptic. It is primarily produced by combining water and propene in a hydration reaction or by hydrogenating acetone. It also evaporates quickly, leaves nearly zero oil traces, compared to ethanol, and is relatively non-toxic, compared to alternative solvents. Thus, it is used widely as a solvent and as a cleaning fluid, especially for dissolving oils.
